my new obsession.
I have been op shopping looking for a $15 Santa gift for work. I found some amazing glass items including a bowl and vase at $3 each and some lamp shades that were priced between $5-$10 each.
The problem with lamp shades is that they have two holes. The one that was going to be at the bottom I wanted water proof so I could use it like a terrarium.

For this one I glued a old golden syrup lid to the inside so it sits just over the opening. I used a two in one glue that comes in a twin tube. You squeeze out both and mix them together and then use.

These two I used the bottom of the stem of wine glasses to make them water proof and stable
I used my Dremel to cut them off and to take any sharp edges off. Then glued the to the outside using the same glass glue

To plant them up I put in some broken up polystyrene for drainage, charcoal to sweeten the water and good quality potting mix. I topped them all off with sphagnum moss.
for this one I used sphagnum moss to line the inside of the bowl before I put the potting mix in to help keep the colour of the bowl from getting to dark.
while I had the glue mixed up I glued this bowl onto an up turned vase to make a bowl on a stand.
I have done this before with a glass plate and a short dumpy vase. I use it at work for displaying muffins etc. After 5 months it is still working and no signs of the glue failing.
