butterfly shapes

I am putting together a series of animal and insect shapes with suggestions how they can be used in your crafting. I love pintrest and would recommend visiting the site for more ideas.

Butterfly are one of my favourite insects to use

This is A very simple but effective method.
I took three sanded pieces of wood and placed my butterfly shapes where I wanted them.
 It would be easier to use thicker cardboard shapes.

 

 

 

 I wanted to have a milk paint effect where you can still see the wood grain under the paint so I watered down some tester pot paint about 2:1 paint water. paint I carefully painted over the butterflies . I used the dry brush methods so I didn't get paint seeping under the butterflies and wiped excess paint off as well.

I gently peeled the shapes off before the paint dried.

 once the paint was dry I used Dutch oil over the whole lot to enhance the natural wood colour.
